DIY Fashion - Iron on studs

Studs have been in fashion for quite a while now and it doesn't look like they are going anywhere soon. I have for at least 3 years wanted a studded classic biker jacket and have even bought a stud gun to stud my current jacket, but all I did was get holes in my jacket. But I found these iron on studs that look simple and easy to place in rows and stud a jacket, a hundred sound a lot but if you are planning to stud a lot I would buy more.

or here are some that are more of a statement

here are the results

I placed them in lines carefully and pressed them with hair straighteners to fix in position. I really like the result and the studs stay on pretty well. I have been wearing this jacket for like 4 weeks and only 2 or 3 have fallen off. The only thing is that the rows took ages to do and it's hard to get right so I bought this which is more expensive but a lot easier on hard-to-stud items.

Here's the cap studded up, I melted the brim with an iron trying to make it flat and tried to own it by melting all of it (£30 for a leather cap and not all of it is leather?)

Boy London

You might have noticed from my background I love Boy London! it's probably one of my favourite clothing brands, I love the name, the style, the logo. But unfortunately it seems it is increasingly becoming common place with shops like urban outfitters restocking this piece of 80's British fashion branding. Here are some interesting vintage images I have come across that reminds us the good years; the years when the real Boy, Boy George, wore it.

Pastel Shades

We have been seeing pastel tones a lot recently especially the last few seasons at fashion week. Designers such as Christopher Kane, Chanel, Ashish, Comme des Garcons,Proenza . Even some Celebrity’s such as Kelly Osbourne and Lady GaGa are trying out this look, making me consider whether I should take the plunge and peroxide my deep burgundy locks for a lighter shade.
Pastel shades are a really good if you want something a bit different but without having that really bold in your face crazy colour. At first I liked the idea of mint green on my ends, cool and calming for my fair skin complexion, like below:

But then it came to me that red and green should probably never be been. Still I have not gone off the idea of pastels and have thought about buying my hair grey like Pixie Lott has here:

The idea of dying my hair grey feels like a childhood fantasy because I have been dreaming of it for so long, once even considering buying a grey wig so I could wear grey hair out. I love the colour and that it's not in your face and also being a silver fox at 20.

Although I have bleached my hair before about two years ago to go dirty blonde and in the end the maintenance and the colour just got expensive and out of hand. I used to bleach with Live (typical) and then dye it again to make it go dirty. At first it looked good but then I got lazy and when the roots came through I used to just bleach and not bother dying it dirty again, instead I used purple shampoo thinking that will solve any yellow-ness. Anyway to cut a long story short by the end I had yellow hair with white tips and my natural gingerness coming through underneath. I look back at photos now and burst out laughing. It took pretty much a year for my hair to grow out so kind of scared to bleach again, but then again you are only young once.

Paul Joyce

One stylist who is out there that really inspires me and I feel is doing a lot of good work, that is innovative and original, is London based stylist and image consultant Paul Joyce. I absolutely love all his work, but his mixing of  punk, 'chav' culture, underground street fashions and the club kid aesthetic seen in his most recent work is pure bless for me.

These are just a few from his recent shoots but there are many more on his fb page below. Fantastic work and someone I will mention again.

Hello Welcome...

I guess introductions are always the hardest...

Welcome to FASHION IDLE! Firstly the main reason for this blog is in some way to collect my thoughts and structure my creative ideas, I have so many it's hard to kept them up there in till good use, so this will be my outlet for that. The majority of the topics will be on creative fashion, photography I have come across, DIY fashion ideas, nostalgia, comments on films I have seen and I'm sure a few random posts as well.

I have been collecting photographs, magazines and images, as well as been writing thoughts and ideas for years so this would be a good way for me to express them and in the mean time spark some kind of interest in a readers mind as well.
